Academic Advisor - 540101 Aa College Of Education Admin ...

Job Description: Academic Advisor. Twelve-month, full-time, stated definite term, non-faculty position in the Advising Center of the College of Education at East Carolina University, available immediately. Salary commensurate with qualifications.

Duties include: provide developmental advising on a full-time basis to the College of Education's undergraduate population; guide students in the development of decision-making skills; advise students regarding University policies, procedures, rules and regulations; advise students with regards to academic requirements of COE majors; use data to inform advising decisions and programming; provide instruction through workshops and other avenues; assist with presentations of academic information for recruitment and orientation purposes; identify and implement retention programming and strategies; establish relationships with faculty and staff members; teach COAD 1000, the Freshman Seminar course; perform other duties as assigned by the Director of the Academic Success Center, the Director of Teacher Education, and the Dean of the College of Education.

Minimum Qualifications: Requires Master's degree in a related field (ex: counseling, adult education) from an appropriately accredited institution; excellent interpersonal and organizational skills; strong time-management skills; ability to work effectively as a member of a diverse, motivated team. Previous work experience working with young adults is preferred.
